
Volkswagen is pretty brave, being one of the first carmakers to reintroduce diesel engines in the United States. However, in an announcement made today, VW said that the clean diesels won’t be available starting April 2008 (as they initially announced), but starting late summer 2008. This is due to a technical issue, which is most likely related to the high emissions standards that vehicles must abide by in the US.
In a memo addressed to VW dealers, Adrian Hallmark said: “This situation is due to a technical issue that was found during the later stages of durability testing”
