BMW X6 Tuning AC Schnitzer

The German tuner AC Schnitzer is the first tuning company to present a tuning package for the new BMW X6. Even though many think it’s not quite the best car BMW ever came up with, the car sells pretty good and many owners will definitely want to customize it. The AC Schnitzer package includes a sporty aero kit and a few mechanical upgrades. The body kit features a new front bumper with diagonal air intakes and repositioned fog lights, new rear bumper with diffuser center kit and integrated exhaust pipes opening, new 22 inch Type VII black alloy wheels. To give the car a ‘closer to the ground’ appearance, all new components are body-color painted.

Mechanical upgrades include a new Motor Control Unit (available for the 3.0dX and 3.5dX diesel versions) and an unique suspension spring kit. AC Schnitzer didn’t release any info about the car’s performance, but stay tuned because once we’ll know, you’ll know.

Check out more photos after the jump.

BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe

In a press release, BMW announced yesterday the all new production-ready BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe, which will debut at the Detroit Auto Show.

From the press release: “As the world’s first Sports Activity Coupe, the BMW X6 will be available in two engine variants: the xDrive50i (4.4 V8 engine, 400 hp, 450lb.-ft torque) and the xDrive35i (3.0 inline six-cylinder engine, 300 hp, 300 lb.-ft torque), both with Twin Turbo and direct injection. The BMW X6 offers unique features and performance ability in a combination unmatched by any other vehicle. The new BMW X6’s design combines the sporting elegance of a large BMW Coupe with the powerful presence of a BMW X model.”

“The new V8 engine with Twin Turbo technology and direct gasoline injection, is likewise making its world debut in the BMW X6. Displacing 4.4 liters, this eight-cylinder with maximum engine output of 400 hp and peak torque of 450 lb-ft available over an unusually large range of engine speed from 1,800–4,500 rpm, is the most powerful engine ever seen in a BMW X Model.”

BMW did a pretty good job with SUVs, so far, the X5 being a huge succes and the smaller X3 also selling very well. And I think that’ll also be the case with the BMW X6 Sports Activity Coupe, especially with competition not being so tough in this niche, maybe an upcoming Land Rover LRX could compete the X6.
