The Alfa Romeo Mi.To unveiled

Alfa Romeo Mi.To

A few days ago Alfa Romeo announced in a press release their latest car, the upcoming Alfa Romeo Mi.To. The Alfa ‘Mini killer’ (though I hate this term) joins the Fiat 500 in an Italian attempt to challenge Mini’s place in the market. One thing’s for sure about the Mi.To, it has a strange name, which comes from the first two lettres of the cities were the car was conceived. ‘Mi’ comes from Milano, where the car was designed and To comes from Turin (Torino), where the small car will be produced.

Being an Alfa Romeo, we know from the beginning that the car is beautiful and the photos confirm that. The Mi.To borrows some characteristic from Alfa’s latest sensation, the 8C Competizione, such as the three-lobed front-part, the particular shape of the unframed side windows and the shape of the headlights and the LED tail lights. Under the hood, the Alfa Romeo Mi.To will be offered with 4 engines, all Turbo (petrol and diesel), that currently range from 90 hp up to 155 hp, with the range due to be extended by even higher power ratings.

Check out to see more photos, a short video and read the full press release after the jump.

Saab 9-1X Concept Teaser Photo

With about two weeks before its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show, Saab released a teaser image of the Saab 9-1X Concept. Though the photo shows the car covered, we can tell that the hatch concept will probably follow the Saab Aero X concept’s design.

The Saab 9-1X will be based on the Opel Astra platform and WorldCarFans report that it will probably be powered by a turbocharged 1.4 liter engine and will be a player in the small premium hatchbacks, competing cars like the Volvo C30, BMW 1-series or the Mini Cooper.

2008 Honda Jazz/Fit

If you’re wondering, no, this isn’t the previous generation Honda Civic. It’s the 2008 Honda Jazz/Fit. Honda is getting ready to present it official, probably at the Tokyo Motor Show next month, but these photos leaked today, so there’s no secret. This is how the next generation Jazz will look like.

No official info yet, but rumors say that in Japan, there’ll be two engine available, a new 1.3L VTEC delivering 100 hp at 6,000 rpm and a 1.5L VTEC engine with 120 hp output at 6,300 rpm. No clues on the global version’s engines. We’ll let you know more when Honda will make a press release, until then, check out the photo gallery, after the jump.

Frankfurt Special: Daihatsu HSC Concept

Daihatsu HSC Concept

Here’s the Daihatsu HSC Concept presented these days at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Reduced friction, improved fuel combustibility and increased compression ratio together with CVT, Idle Stop System and aerodynamic control design with CD value of 0.28 make the 4 seater small car from Daihatsu achieve a 4.1L/100km fuel consumption, which is not bad at all.

Unfortunately for Daihatsu, the HSC concept doesn’t impresses so much like other small car concept revealed at Frankfurt, like the Toyota IQ or the Volkswagen Up!.

Volkswagen City Expert

Martin Winterkorn, head of Volkswagen, has confirmed that the first concept version of its new small rear-engine car will be showing up in Frankfurt this September. Volkswagen City Expert will be produced in two different models for two different markets. First, there will be the car available for Western Europe, priced somewhere around 8,000 euros, while for emerging markets the base model of the car will be priced between 5,000 to 7,000 euros. The new Renault Twingo

Renault Twingo

The new Twingo, which will go on sale on 15 June 2007, will be one of the first new vehicle released in an extensive range renewal programme by Renault. The new model by Renault targets a broader, more international customer base than its predecessor, and there’s even a right-hand-drive model for the UK market.

With a design close to the new Clio’s look, the new Twingo model will have, among other new features, a 1.5 liter dCi diesel engine. The car will be an almost perfect urban car, with different connectivity features like the TunePoint sound system, with steering-wheel controls, which imports custom music libraries in MP3 format, on USB key, MP3 player or iPod. There’s also a Bluetooth hands-free phone system with hold function, for safer motoring. Read More: "The new Renault Twingo"

New Opel Agila announced for 2008

Opel Agila

Opel announced that next year, probably next spring it will start selling the new generation of Opel Agila. The new “midget” from Opel looks cute (compared to the actual Agila, which can compete anytime for the world’s ugliest car) and I think women will adore this car.

The mini car will have five doors and it will allow users to fold down the back seats to accommodate a class-leading 1150L of storage space. The next generation Opel Agila will come equipped with three new engines; a 1.0L 3-cylinder (65hp) and a 1.2L four-cylinder with 86hp, both petrol engines, and a 1.3L CDTi with 75 hp(like the one on the actual Corsa). An automatic gearbox option will be available for the first time but only for 1.2L versions.

As for safety, which is important on these small cars, the Agila will come equipped with four airbags as well as an optional ESP (Electronic Stability Program). The new Opel Agila will debut at this year’s Frankfurt motor show in September and we expect the final pricing to be announced in the first half of next year. Click read more to see more pics of the car.
