Super-sedans are the new trend from the supercar manufacturers, with the likes of Porsche, with the Panamera or Aston Martin, with the Rapide and now, sweedish manufacturer Koenigsegg has announced, through their manager for the Middle East, that a sedan is currently in the clay modelling stage, and that it might be powered by a 700 hp V8 engine. This model is set for a release date of 2011.

In development for about two years already, the sedan will be the slimmest car in that segment, all this low weight making it possible to reach about 350 km/h. Of course, the experience gained with the CCX will be put to good use, engineers using their abilities with the construction of carbon-fiber when they built the sweedish supercar in this new sedan.

Although the sweeds were rumoured to have financial problems, especially with the construction plant, according to officials, they will be able to produce about 70 to 80 sedans, while still manufacturing 35 CCX supercars.

Today, Accura released this photo of the upcoming 2009 Acura TL sedan. Available starting this fall, the TL will be the most powerful car Acura has ever produced, whatever that means, because Acura hasn’t released any further details on the car. Except that it will feature Super Handling All-Wheel Drive(SH-AWD). The guys over at Autoblog think that the car will probably be powered by the 300 hp 3.7 liter engine which currently powers the RL and the MDX.

With just a week before the Detroit auto show opens up, Hyundai USA decided to officially introduce the Hyundai Genesis Sedan. Based on Hyundai’s latest rear wheel drive platform and with prices starting at $30,000, the Genesis will be the producer’s new flagship.

The Genesis will come with three engine choices. There will be two V6 units: a 3.3-liter that delivers 268 hp and 233 lb-ft. of torque and a 3.8-liter that delivers 290 hp and 264 lb.-ft. of torque. The top of the line will be the all-new Tau 4.6-liter V8 engine which delivers 368 hp and is mated to a ZF 6-speed automatic transmission with Shiftronic manual control. Engines are fitted with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) on intake and exhaust cam shafts and a new Variable Intake System (VIS) that helps cylinders breathe efficiently at low and high RPM. These engines will also be environmentally friendly, with all three achieving Ultra Low Emission Vehicle (ULEV) certification levels.

Of course, with the Hyundai Genesis Sedan being a luxury sedan, it offers a wide range of interior options, such as the Lexicon surround sound audio system which includes a 12-channel digital amplifier and 17 speakers producing more than 500 watts of sound in 7.1 discrete audio, leather-wrapped dash, door panels, and console lid surround the driver in a luxurious environment, automatic windshield defogger with humidity sensor and rain-sensing wipers, ultraviolet reflective leather steering wheel, power rear sunshade, automatic electronic parking brake, proximity key and push button starter.

Though it was scheduled to debut at next month’s Detroit Auto Show, the Hyundai Genesis Sedan was presented in a secret preview for the Korean media. And, of course, a full set of photos is now available for everyone to see it. By the way, am I the only one who thinks those headlights are almost identical to the new 3 Series’? We can also see the car wearing the new Genesis emblem, about which we wrote yesterday.

Just a reminder, the car is based on a RWD platform and is powered by the new 375 hp Tau V8 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission and also Hyundai’s 3.3 and 3.8 V6 Lambda engines are available. Enjoy the full set of photos after the jump.

Earlier today we’ve presented the Ford Verve Sedan concept which made its world debut at the Guangzhou Motor Show in China and here’s another B-segment sedan which was introduced here, the Mazda 2 Sedan. The car will be produced in China, where it will enter the market in the first half of 2008 and Mazda has its hopes real high with this model.

Here’s what Noriaki Yamada, President and COO of Mazda Motor China said: “By introducing the four-door sedan we will have completed our product launches in the B, C and CD segments, which represent the three major Chinese vehicle classes.” So, what do you think about the Mazda 2? Today, at the Guangzhou Motor Show (yeah, don’t worry, we can’t pronounce it neither), in China, Ford unveiled the Verve Sedan Concept. After they introduced the hatchback version of the Verve concept at Frankfurt and now this Sedan version, Ford is also preparing a Variant version of the Verve, which will be presented at the Detroit Show. The final production version of the Ford Verve is scheduled to be released somewhere towards the end of next year in Europe and, by the middle of 2009 it will hit US showrooms.

However, one thing I can’t understand. Why would Ford choose to present this concept, in world premiere, in China. I mean, you would expect more from Ford, especially with the Verve being one very important car for Ford in the future. The only explanation I have is that maybe Ford is trying to get more popular in China, because Alan Mullaly, Ford’s CEO, stated: “I can imagine making the Verve in China is a possibility”. It seems Audi has a strategy of its own, because usually we see sedan versions being launched before the wagon ones. Not here, though. Because, after back in September we showed you the RS6 Avant, here a spy video of the upcoming Audi RS6 Sedan. Going through final tests, the car will probably benefit from the same performances as the Avant version. Enjoy!

After some photos leaked on the web, BMW made the official press release and announced the car and also released some great photos. The car is powered by BMW’s 4.0 liter 420 hp V8 engine that takes the car from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.9 seconds and is 30 kg heavier than the Coupe (for example only the carbon-fiber roof used for the Coupe strips 5 kg).

On the exterior we have the Coupe-styled front bumper and headlights, M-style side gills, 19-inch M-wheels, quad-exhausts and a rear spoiler are the biggest optical changes over the standard four-door saloon.

At launch, the M3 will be offered only with BMW’s six-speed manual gearbox, but expect BMW to throw in its version of a double clutch gearbox in the model range in the next few years. View more photos after the jump.

Though we were expecting the new Citroen C5 to be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show which just ended, looks like Citroen will keep us waiting a little more. We are not such big fans of Citroen, but we have to admit that we were teased by the C-Airscape concept presented at Frankfurt.

So, here’s a spy video of the upcoming Citroen C5, both the sedan and the wagon versions, caught while taken out on the streets, for testing. Unfortunately, there’s some heavy camouflage on the cars, so we can’t really tell to much about it.

Cadlliac decided they will put an end to the production of the DTS and STS model, due to some pretty serious drop in sales. Launched five years ago, August sales dropped very much, with 33,368 DTS sold (down 13,9 percent) and 13,156 STS sold (down 24.7 percent).

Jim Taylor, Cadillac’s general manager said last week: “So arguably, we don’t need two entries there anymore, given the shrinkage of that segment”. He also gave us some hints that their place in the Cadillac range will be taken by a $28,000 sedan, beneath the current CTS.

Brabus will present a high-performance tunning program for the new Mercedes C-Class at this week’s Frankfurt Motor Show. And if you think it’s name, Bullit, is just for marketing, well, you can’t be more wrong and here are it’s tech specs, to convince you that it really is almost as fast as a bullet.

The 6.3L V12 engine was modified and it now develops 720 horsepower and 974 lb-ft of torque, but it was limited at 811 lb-ft to preserve the tires and gearbox. The super C-Class now sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62mph) in only 3.9 seconds, it reaches 200 km/h (124 mph) in 10.49 seconds and it reaches its top speed of 300 km/h (186mph) after 24.5 seconds.

To make all that power as comfortable as possible for the passengers, the Bullit has a revised suspension and braking system. No word so far on how much this tuning program will cost, but one thing’s for sure, it will be a lot.

Later Edit: We found out the price: $475,000 / 348,000 €. So, if you want a high performance sedan at the price of a Lambo or an SLR, start saving.

Mitsubishi will bring the Concept ZT at Frankfurt, concept which will be the starting point for Mitsubishi’s future premium sedan. Does anyone else think the front looks like Audi’s A5/R8? The Mitsubishi Concept ZT is powered by a newly developed fuel-efficient, 2.2 liter diesel engine, which develops 187 hp and is mated with the new Twin Clutch SST (Sport Shift Transmission). We have no official info so far, but with the Frankfurt Motor Show closing in, we won’t have to wait any more. Still, we know that the car will feature a lot of ttechnologies, like Lane-Drift Warning System, Pop-Up Hood, All-Around Multi-Monitors and Parking Assistance System. More details to come soon.
