The Porsche Panamera sure is hot stuff these days. With only a few days until it’s official unveilling in Paris, the teaser shots from Porsche only put gas on the fire which is the excitement of the motoring press worldwide. The German manufacturer’s first attempt at a 4 door sedan is surely interesting. After the loads of spy shots captured of the car, the guys from 9FF, a Porsche specialized tuner, drew a sketch of the presumed super-sedan.

Although the base of the model was made up of the spy shots, the tuners took some liberties with the model and fitted it with special wheels and a rear diffuser. Guess there isn’t a better time to start a tuning program for a car than before it is even launched. All in all, it’s quite a beautiful sketch and let’s hope that Porsche’s actual car would look as great. Finally, after thousands of spy shots and spy videos of the Porsche Panamera, the German car manufacturer decided to release something and shed some light on the car. It’s not much, but at least it’s something. We get to see a lateral shot of the front part of the car, which is styled in the typical Porsche style, no surprise about that. We’re really interested on seeing the rest of the car, that’s where we want to see what Porsche did. But I really like the teaser photo, especially with the rest of the Porsche range, the Cayenne, Cayman, Carrera and Boxster just standing there and waiting for their more luxurious sister/brother to come out. As roumors fly around, Porsche is going to introduce its first hybrid. Weather it will be the Cayenne or the Panamera we’re yet to find out, but what we know for sure is that the company already registered Panamera Hybrid Logo with OHIM (The EU trade and design marks agency).

There’s no surprise in the design, it uses the known Porsche font, and it does not emphasis in any way the “hybrid”. It is plain and conservatory design. Something you do expect from a car manufacturer that has not radically changed the design since their first product.

The Cayenne Hybrid is going to use a VW V6 3.6 litre engine (after all, let’s not forget that Porsche does own important shares in VW, and making use of their engine and know-how is one of the reason they bought the shares in the first place) along with an electric engine. The fuel economy will be made by using the electric engine at steady speeds. We expect the same treatment for their hybrid sedan.

We can hardly wait the expression on people’s faces after the double shock: A 4 door Porsche hybrid.

Scheduled to debut at next year’s Detroit Auto Show, in January, the Fisker Sports Sedan (not the final name) is developed with Quantum Technologies, a Californian company specialized in clean propulsion technologies. The plug-in hybrid 4-doors sports sedan will probably go on sale towards the end of 2008 - early 2009 and, priced under $100,000 (about €70,000), could be a serious competition to the upcoming Porsche Panamera or the Maserati Quattroporte.
