Mercedes Benz SL63 ‘Evo’ tuning by Kicherer

Mercedes Benz SL63 AMG Tuning Kicherer

German tuner Kicherer developed a new tuning program for the facelifted Mercedes Benz SL63. Dubbed “Evo”, the program features an aggressive caron fiber bodykit and a set of mechanical upgrades, which turned the SL into a true beast (not that it wasn’t already). Under the bonnet, Kicherer engineers decided that the 6.2 liter V8 engine is not powerfull enough, so they’ve upgraded it to 560hp (425kW) (525hp (392kW) on the ‘regular’ model) and 495lb-ft (670Nm). Performance figure? Impressive, of course. 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.3 seconds (0.3 seconds faster than the standard), 0 to 125 mph (200km/h) in 14.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed to 320km/h.

The package also includes ultra-light 20 inch RS-1 wheels, F1-style steering wheel with carbon gearshift paddles, additional instruments and extra carbon trim, all for €21,765 (approximately $32,175). Read More: "Mercedes Benz SL63 ‘Evo’ tuning by Kicherer"

Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG Black Series

The first thing that crosses my mind when I hear about the Black Series is the superb video made by Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson with the CLK Black Series. I absolutely loved it and apparently the car is a wonderful ride. Now Mercedes finally announced another beast, the SL65 AMG Black Series.

The “bad news” is that, even though the first rumors said that the 6 liter V12 engine which powers the car and was able develop 720 hp would be limited to 680 hp, the final power output is 661 hp. However, considering that Mercedes stripped out 550 pounds (250 kg) from the “regular” SL65 AMG, the car’s performance figures are still very impressive: fitted with five-speed automatic gearbox equipped with AMG’s speedshift software the car goes from 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.9 seconds and reached 198 mph (320 km/h) top speed.

The Mercedes Benz SL65 AMG Black Series will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October and US sales are scheduled to start next year at a starting price of $320,000.

Mercedes Benz SL Facelift Tuning Brabus

Probably everyone knows who Brabus is and what it does. It’s that German tuner which transforms Mercedes cars into expensive beasts. And here is their latest creation, the tuning program for the recently introduced Mercedes Benz SL facelift. As expected, the performance figures are impressive. The car is powered by the 730hp 6.3-liter twin-turbo V12 originally developed for the Brabus Rocket (SL 600 only) mated to a reinforced five-speed automatic transmission and a special Brabus limited-slip differential. High performance upgrades include a new sports exhaust system, a special suspension kit and the Brabus high performance brake system. Powered by this engine, the cars sprints from 0 to 62mph (100km/h) in just 4 seconds and up to 124mph (200km/h) in 10.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 219 mph (350km/h).

Considering its performances, the body kit not only gives the car a striking look, but it also improves the aerodynamics, to make sure nothing unexpected happens. The front bumper is replaced by the Brabus front apron featuring LED daytime running lights and high beam and fog lights, the rocker panels have three entrance lights which illuminate the floor around the vehicle. Also available are 17, 18, 19 and 20 inch one-piece and multi-piece light alloy rims.

Of course, the interior is top class, featuring scuff plates with illuminated BRABUS-logo, an ergonomically shaped sport steering wheel with shift paddles, and an exclusive BRABUS custom interior crafted from an exquisite combination of especially soft yet durable BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.

Mercedes Benz SL500 Tuning Carlsson

The German tuner Carlsson presented their latest creation, the Carlsson CK50 tuning program for the new Mercedes Benz SL500. By installing a new electronic control unit (ECU), the 5.5 liter V8 engine now produces 435 hp / 320 kW at 6,000 rpm and 600 Nm of torque, 53 hp more than the factory version (388 hp / 285 kW). Carlsson also removed the speed limit and the car now goes up to 293 km/h (182 mph), while the 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration is made in 5.1 seconds.

Geneva 2008: The new Mercedes Benz SL 63 AMG

Mercedes Benz SL at Geneva Motor Show

The Mercedes Benz stand at the Geneva Motor Show was pretty impressive, with four world premieres, the updated CLS and SLK, the new CLC and, maybe the most impressive, the new Mercedes SL 63 AMG facelift. The car will replace the current SL 55 AMG and will feature new bodykit, darkened headlamps and tail-lights and new 19-inch alloy wheels.

Under the hood, as its name suggest, there’ll be a 6.3 liter V8 engine which develops 525 hp and 630 Nm of torque, slightly more than the current 5.5 liter V8 on the SL 55 AMG which has 517 HP and 720 Nm. And you’re probably be amazed, but the SL 63 AMG will be slower than the current SL 55 AMG, going from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in 4.7 seconds, 0.2 seconds slower than the SL 55 AMG. The engine will be mated to a MCT 7-speed sports transmission and the car will also feature new sports suspension and a new speed sensitive steering wheel system, plus a new 3-stage ESP system (ON/SPORT/OFF).

Check out more photos from the Geneva show after the jump.

The program includes a very aggressive body kit, featuring new front end, widened side skirt and modified side vents, new rear bumper with integrated exhaust and a set of unique wheels.

The 50 units limited edition will be powered by a modified biturbo V12 engine which now produces 660 hp (485 kW) and 1013 Nm of torque, while, in order to prevent transmission damage, the top speed was limited to 325 km/h (200 mph).

Mercedes Benz SL 63 AMG

Mercedes Benz SL Facelift

As you probably know, Mercedes is preparing a facelift for the SL class and here are leaked photos of the new car. Honestly, I’m still thinking if I like it or not. The most obvious change is the almost completely redesigned front part, with new single-bar grille, new headlamps and hood lines. Other changes include new side gills, revised rear bumper and new alloy wheels. At the interior, we see Mercedes put a new steering wheel and modified the instrument panel.

We don’t know for sure, but rumors say that Mercedes will introduce the SL 63 AMG, powered by a naturally aspirated 6.2 liter V8 engine, which delivers 525 hp and 630 Nm of torque and accelerates from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 4.7 sec.

That’s about all we have for now, but stay tuned, because we’re almost sure that, with these photos leaked, Mercedes will make an official announcement of the car. Meanwhile, you can check out all the leaked photos after the jump.
