Beside the GTbyCitroen and the Hypnos, the new Citroen C3 Picasso was another of the French carmaker’s premieres for Paris. The small MPV, which looks a little like the Kia Soul, with its cube-like body shape, offers plenty of interior space and it will be offered with a range of four petrol and diesel engines that develop between 90 and 120 hp. The car will make its UK debut next year and you can read more about it in our previous post and in the official press release. And here are the photos we took in Paris. Enjoy!

Beside the breathtaking Citroen GT Concept, the French carmaker also brought another interesting concept at the Paris Motor Show, the Citroen Hypnos Concept. If we take a look at Citroen’s description of the car, we could think that this might just be the perfect car out there: “an elegant and distinctive cross-over vehicle, Hypnos explores new avenues in the design of luxury ecological vehicles. Its creative technologies deliver outstanding performance and environmental efficiency, combined with subtle but powerful motoring sensations.” Is it like that? Who knows, but one thing’s for sure, the concept definitely looks good.

According to Citroen, the concept is powered by a 2-litre HDi DPFS diesel engine that delivers 200 hp (147 kW) and 420 Nm of torque, plus an electric motor located on the rear axle developing 50 hp and 200 Nm of torque. The car’s range in all-electric mode is absolutely hilarious, 3 km (1.8 miles) at 50 km/h (31 mph), but this is porbably very good for those time when you’re stuck in traffic and move with the speed of a snale. The hybrid powertrain makes the car achieve a combined cycle fuel consumption of 4.5 l/100 km and 120 g/km of CO2 emissions.

After a lot of ’striptease’ teasing, Citroen finally unveiled their concept car, here in Paris. The GTbyCitroen concept, besides looking incredibly good, also sets a premiere. If usually versions of real cars are featured in video games, this time Citroen has decided to create a full size replica of the car from the Playstation 3 video game, Gran Turismo 5, where it features an electric dirvetrain powered by a fuel cell. Of course, this is only a show car, it previews nothing, but still, it’s interesting to see the results when designers start playing.

We were delighted that Citroen approached us and gave us the opportunity to combine our creative strengths to build this very special concept car. To see the car take shape in game and then for real has been a truly unique experience as our work normally stays in the digital world. I just hope I can get behind the wheel of GTbyCITROËN and drive it on a real race track!” said Kazanori Yamauchi, President of Polyphony Digital Inc and creator of Gran Turismo.

While Lamborghini decides to keep a total mistery around their upcoming four door coupe, Citroen has decided to take another aproach. Their Citroen GT Concept is doing some sort of striptease, because, with every teaser photo released, the car get more and more unveiled. After we’ve seen three teasers so far, the fourth one shows us a little more than the last one, we get to see a partial view of the front part. Just as a reminder, all we know so far is that the vehicle is a full scale concept of the Citroen sports car features in the upcoming GranTurismo Prologue5 video game for Playstation 3, that will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show.

After all the mystery created around the Lamborghini car which will debut in Paris, Citroen also teased us with a few photos of a mysterious concept that will debut at the French show. The Citroen GT Concept will be featured in the GranTurismo Prologue5 video game for Playstation 3 and it seems that Citroen has decided to also create a full scale concept. We can’t really see much in the photos, except a small part of the front fascia, but judging by the car’s shape, it’s safe to say that it will be a super sporty concept. Stay tuned as we’ll let you know once we have extra info.

Citroen has announced that the latest addition to their range, the Citroen C3 Picasso will make its debut next month, at the Paris Motor Show. The small MPV, the third member of the Picasso family, after the Xsara and the C4 Picasso, is 4.08 meters long, 1.73 m wide and 1.62 m tall, and features a cube-like body shape, with short front end and vertical rear. The interior space is optimized through Citroen’s modular design, with split-folding rear seats that slide back and forth independently, while the flat load surface extends right up to the front seatbacks and can be extended by folding the back of the front passenger seat.

Under the hood, the Citroen C3 Picasso will be available with four engine, two petrol and two diesels. The VTi petrol units, developed in cooperation with BMW, develop 95 and 120 hp (the latter complying with futre Euro 5 pollution standards), while the two diesel units, a 90 hp HDi and a 110 HDi DPFS achieve CO2 emissions of 125g/km and 130g/km respectively.

After its Paris debut, the C3 Picasso also has an UK launch scheduled for next year. Read more about the car in the official press release.

This year, the legendary Citroen 2CV will celebrate its 60th anniversary and, some time ago, we were wondering how Citroen will mark this moment. Not as impressive as we would’ve expected, but who knows, maybe that’s not all. We’re talking about the Citroen C3 Pluriel Charleston, a special edition of the French cabrio finished in a two-tone color scheme of black and bordeaux red. Other extras include new 15” alloy wheels, and a special interior with gloss-black fittings, leather upholstery and chrome trim.

The Paris show is getting closer and closer and news about new cars that will debut in France are all over the place. According to Carscoop, another car that will make its first appearance will be the Citroen Hypnos crossover concept that will be built on a hybrid platform. Citroen says that the car will be powered by a 200 hp engine that will be able to get 52.3 mpg (4.5 liters/100 km), while CO2 emissions will bu just 120 g/km. Nothing official so far, these are only rumors, but we’ll come with an update soon.

Citroen and Intersection Magazine have created the Citroen C6 ‘Office’, a special concept based on the C6 Sedan model. Designed to appear in the following months, for fashion and entertainment events, the new Citroen concept was created as a “four wheels office”. Despite the completely black interior, which, by the way looks rather funerally, the C6 Office provides multiple facilities for its passengers. The concept is fitted with Kenwood audio system, Blackberry connectivity, Krug Champagne and an assortment of catering, equipped by Fauchon. The silvery decorative items are from Cristofle, and Navitec also contributed at the interior. Alcantara leather was used for the upholstery and other interior surfaces.

This autumn, at the Paris Motor Show in October, Citroen will celebrate 60 years since the Citroen 2CV, the famous car that wrote history for Citroen. We don’t know yet what the French carmaker has planned for this occasion, but expectations are high, especially with a lot of manufacturers launching modern versions of their iconic cars (VW with the Beetle and Scirocco or Fiat with the Fiat 500).

Pictured here we’ve got a few renderings created by French designer David Portela which gave a few idea to Citroen, back in 2005, with these creations. So far, he wasn’t contacted by anyone at Citroen, but who knows, maybe they’ll really surprise us at Paris.

The German tuner Musketier decided that the Citroen C5 has potential so it decided to create a tuning program for the French sedan. The package doesn’t include a full body kit, only 20-inch dark alloy wheels wrapped in 245 rubber, a set of sporty chromed tailpipes, a subtle lip spoiler and side skirts. Which is good, because the C5 already looks good and these changes only make it a little more sportier.

Mechanical changes include upgrade kits for the diesel engines (the 2.2 HDi was boosted 28 hp to 201 hp and the 2.7 V6 HDi 22 hp, to 240 hp) and a lowering kit that reduces ground clearance by 35mm. The procing for the packages starts at 799 Euros.

Presented in October at the Road Transport Show in Amsterdam, The Citroën NEMO Concept is now on display at the 2007 Bologna Motor Show. The concept car is colored in white, orange and black and it celebrate the famous Disney clown fish, from the “Finding Nemo” box office hit animation.

Here’s a promotional video for the 2008 Citroen C5, which will go on sale next year, in March, and French designers managed to impress us one more time with this beautiful sedan.

Here is Citroen’s latest showroom, the C42, located in the heart of Paris, along the Champs-Elysées. Designed by French architect Manuelle Gautrand, the C42 is a modern, airy structure that is a mixture of Citroen’s past and future. C42’s first exhibition, called “Sustainable Innovation”, displays the Traction Avant, 2CV, the C-Métisse and C-Airplay. Only three production vehicles, including the new C-Crosser sport utility and the C4 Picasso MPV, currently reside on the showroom floor.

Though we were expecting the new Citroen C5 to be presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show which just ended, looks like Citroen will keep us waiting a little more. We are not such big fans of Citroen, but we have to admit that we were teased by the C-Airscape concept presented at Frankfurt.

So, here’s a spy video of the upcoming Citroen C5, both the sedan and the wagon versions, caught while taken out on the streets, for testing. Unfortunately, there’s some heavy camouflage on the cars, so we can’t really tell to much about it.
