This year, Hyundai has decided to join the luxury car market, with the new Genesis and, while they’re creating very reliable cars now, the South Korean carmakers still lacks brand image to attract customers. In order to take care of that problem, Hyundai has announced that the 2009 Seoul Motor Show will mark the debut of a special edition Genesis Sedan, built in cooperation with well-known luxury goods brand Prada. Built in Italy, there will only be three units made, one of which will be on display at the Seoul show and then at the Hyundai Motor Company’s headquarters in Seoul, while the other two will be auctioned for charity between March and June 2009 during a series of art and fashion events at the Prada Transformers building in Seoul.

During the Bonhams & Butterfields auction that will take place at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles this Saturday, famous actor Bruce Willis will auction off six vehicles from his personal muscle car collection. Among these cars, there’ll be a 1968 Shelby GT500, a 1968 Pontiac Firebird 400, a 1957 Chevrolet Corvette and a 1969 Dodge Charger coupe specially customized to match the one in the Steve McQueen movie Bullitt. Beside Bruce’s cars, the auction will also include a selection of Steve McQueen’s personal effects from the collection of his first wife, Neile McQueen Toffel (aka Neile Adams), featuring rare personal items, movie posters and memorabilia from his films, never-before-seen photos, and firearms from the “King of Cool.”

We already know that the Mercedes McLaren SLR’s production is coming to an end and it seems that the United States will finally get one. Only one. The special final SLR will be sold in an exclusive online auction on November 20. Beside the 617 hp supercharged V8, the car also features an unique Sienna Pearl Super Metallic Paint finish with metallic elements, Tobacco Brown composition leather interior and 19 inch SLR wheels with special brake system fitted with gold brake calipers. The car’s price is $529,500 and all funds will go to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital. For more details, check out the Mercedes Benz USA website.

Looks like they’re dropping like flies all over the world: first Hong Kong, then Malaysia, Isle of Man and the United States and now again the US. We have no idea why this Nissan GT-R looks like this or what happened at the auction that took place yesterday, but one thing’s for sure. This brand new GT-R (349 miles on the odometer) is almost destroyed and it was available at an auction yard in Nashville. The vehicle cost 87,000 and damage is estimated at around $55,000, so don’t think this is going to be a bargain for the auction winner. If you ask me, there are two reasons why someone would pay for a totalled GT-R: either you didn’t get the chance to place your order for a new one, either you’re having some evil thoughts regarding that lovely 480 hp engine, which looks ok.

Let’s assume that you had 1 million Euros (around $1.4 million) to spend on a Lamborghini Reventon, but didn’t got the chance to place your order for one of the 20 units that were on sale. Well, we have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that one Reventon (number 3 out of the 20) showed up for sale on eBay. The bad news is that it will cost you more (the Buy It Now price was set at $2,500,000). The car is being sold by Sillicon Valley Auto Group, located in Los Gatos, California. So, what are you waiting for, hurry up and place your bids on the auction page!

Though the Ferrari California is scheduled to make its official debut at next week’s Paris Motor Show, the Italian company decided to sell the first unit at a charity auction held in Maranello, Italy and in Santa Monica, California. The winning bid was £282,000 (around $520,000) and the money will go to the After Schools All Stars foundation, which helps under-privileged school children and which was represented by Arnold Schwarzenegger, California’s Governor.

Considering that the car’s retail price will be half of what it was paid for the first unit, might seem a little too much money, but it’s ok, considering that less fortunate kids will benefit from this money.

The Ford Mustang AV8R was built for the EAA Gathering of Eagles charity auction, that took place last Thursday. The winning bid was $500,000 and the auction took place during the EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2008, the world’s largest annual aviation event. Proceeds from the sale will support EAA youth education and inspirational experiences that prepare young people to become the engineers, pilots and innovators.

The Ford Mustang AV8R is powered by a 400 hp 4.6 litre 24-valve V8 supercharged engine and is fitted with a Ford Racing Handling Pack that includes dampers, lowering springs, anti-roll bar kit, strut tower brace and a Ford Racing Tuned Exhaust. The car features a unique “satin finish” aviation inspired paint with a black gloss treatment, with unique Star-in-Circle insignia laminate glass, special front and rear fascias, AV8R faux gas cap, plus a Mustang Bullitt grill and shift knob. The interior includes distressed “Bomber Jacket” leather inserts and trim panels and autographs from Harrison Ford, Edsel B. Ford II, Jack Roush, Carroll Shelby and others.

Remeber the Ferrari 360 Modena limo? After we wrote the article, last year, we’ve been receiving a lot of emails from our readers asking us whether they can buy or rent the car.

Over here at Auto Unleashed we don’t sell cars, but great news for some of you, the Ferrari is now for sale. The car is listed on eBay and you can get it immediately for $250,000. No bids were made so far, but for those interested, the car is quite a bargain, considering that it cost Dan Cawley £200,000 only to build the car (without considering the money paid for the Modena). However, you must know that the car has some legal problems, Ferrari pressing charges against Dan for infringing their trademark.

Ok, this is very disturbing news. The famous porn star Jenna Jameson decided to let her Lamborghini Murcielago go and put it up for auction on eBay. The car is painted in pearl yellow and it has factory chrome wheels, factory yellow stiching, indash touch screen radio, aftermarket exhuast , front lift system, kevlar clutch, flywheel, filters, fluid change, acc belt, and throttle body sync. However, I’m sure most of us don’t really care about that. There are no mentions if this car was used in any of Jenna’s movies, so if you remember anything…well…keep it to yourselves. Though this part of the car’s description is really interesting: “This lambo is extremely clean, ready to go and priced right for a quick sale”. What do you mean it’s ‘clean’?

At the 6th Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Event which will take place on March 29 in West Palm Beach, Florida, Ford will put up for auction two of the actual KITT Ford Shelby Mustangs used in NBC’s “Knight Rider” pilot. The cars sold will be the “Super KITT” and the “Attack Mode KITT”, both based on black Mustangs GT with 4.6 Liter V8, each one having a lot of upgrades.

Steve Davis, president of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company said: “”The Barrett-Jackson Automotive lifestyle event in Palm Beach always attracts many celebrities, and this year someone will take home two genuine TV stars […] This is a once in a lifetime chance to own a pair of celebrity cars with extraordinary star power, while also supporting a worthy charity. Imagine going to the office or dropping your kid off at school in KITT. Ford and Barrett-Jackson are offering a chance to live the ‘Knight Rider’ experience every day.”

The bad news is that only one person will enjoy these fine cars, because the KITTs will be sold in pair and not separately. All the benfits will go to the Salute to Education program, which raised more than $7 million for high school students’ scholarships for college.

Once again, eBay is the place for the weirdest most interesting cars we get to see around here. And here’s the latest one, put up for auction today. This thing you see here is a Corvette monster truck, built on a Ford platform. Cool, huh? The car was built by some dude in Hastings, Michigan, has a Chevrolet Corvette body placed on a 1976 Ford F-350 chassis and features, among others, a nitrous kit also. The current bid is $3,050 and the Buy It Now price is set to $9,500. So, if you have some spare cash, you’d better hurry, because this will certainly make you the neighborhood star.

The Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction who took place last weekend had some really attractive cars for sale, especially American muscle cars. Besides the Shelby GT500KR with glassroof, which we wrote about a few days ago, on sale was also the first Chevrolette Corvette ZR1 produced, which got sold for a solid $1 million. Jay Leno, well known for his passion for cars couldn’t have missed the auction, and he was the one that drove the car to the block.

The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is the fastest car ever produced by General Motors, being powered by a supercharged 6.2 liter LS9 V8 engine, which develops 620 hp and takes the car from 0 to 60 in 4 seconds and to a top speed of over 200 mph (320 km/h).

Remember when we wrote about the Ford Mustang getting a glassroof next summer? Ford decided to create some buzz around this new feature and, in cooperation with Barrett-Jackson created this unique Shelby GT500KR Glassroof, which was sold at the Barrett-Jackson for $550,000.

What’s interesting is that the 540 hp GT500KR doesn’t have a regular glass roof, because the auction model features stripes etched directly into the glass. Which is really cool. Also, the winner had his keys handed directly by none other than Carroll Shelby. All the money were donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Take a look what some guy found in a Barn in Pratt, Kansas. The 109 old cars, among which is a very rare 1934 Chrysler Airflow, belonged to some guy who tried to restore them but, obviously, failed. All the cars are on sale on eBay, for $195,000. Not a bad price for a great collection and someone who knows what he’s doing could come up with some beauties.
