ST. ESTEVE SESROVIRES AND MARTORELL

SEAT ‘kits out’ grassroots football in various municipalities

Within the framework of its commitments in the sphere of Corporate Social Responsibility, SEAT will kit out the grassroots football teams of the Barcelona municipalities of Abrera and Sant Esteve Sesrovires, as well as providing part of the kit of the Martorell Football club. This initiative aims to encourage sports among young people and strengthens the link the car company has with the municipalities within which its facilities are located.

The presentation event for the new kit, which bears the SEAT logo, was held at the Abrera Municipal Sports Field, and was attended by Maria Soler, lady mayor of the municipality, as well as sports representatives from Abrera and Sant Esteve Sesrovires, and one hundred youngsters from the grassroots football teams from both municipalities.

The head of Volkswagen Group Institutional Relations in Spain, Carlos Romaní, handed over the new kit to the presidents of the sports associations of Abrera and Sant Esteve Sesrovires, Alonso Blanco and Jaume Canals respectively.

SEAT’s support for grassroots football embraces teams from all categories between the ages of 5 and 18 years. All told, some 500 youngsters and teenagers from Abrera and Sant Esteve Sesrovires will benefit from the new complete kit provided by SEAT. Likewise, some 200 players from Martorell Football Club will also be sporting the car company’s logo on their kit shorts.

Cities such as Barcelona, Madrid, Lisbon, London, Paris, Geneva, Berlin, Krakow, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Rome and Strasbourg are a few of the destinations visited by the motorcade during rush hour to attract the most attention from drivers and passers-by.

The new SEAT Ibiza began its Spanish tour in San Sebastián before visiting Orense, Vigo, Pontevedra, Santiago de Compostela, Lugo, La Coruña, Gijón, Valladolid, Bilbao, Vitoria and Pamplona in the north; Madrid, Toledo and Salamanca in the centre; Zaragoza, Lleida, Girona, Barcelona, Valencia, Alicante and Murcia in the east; and Cáceres, Seville, Huelva, Cádiz, Córdoba, Almería, Málaga and Granada in the south.

Ralf Brandstätter, Executive Vice-President for Purchases.

Born in Braunschweig, Germany, 39-year-old Ralf Brandstätter has been appointed Vice-President for Purchases at SEAT, with effect from July 1st. To date Mr. Brandstätter has held the post of Director of Purchases for the Spanish car manufacturer.

His appointment came on the back of a Volkswagen Group decision to create a new Vice-Presidency on SEAT’s Executive Committee, which currently represents the five areas of Research and Development, Sales and Marketing, Finance, Human Resources and Production.

SEAT’s Chairman Erich Schmitt showed his satisfaction at this decision by stating that “it is a recognition of the effort the company is making, within its growth strategy for the next few years, where relationships with suppliers has proved to be a key aspect in reaching one of its goals - that of selling more than 800,000 vehicles in 2018”.

Ralf Brandstätter has spent his entire career within the Volkswagen Group, after taking a degree in Engineering and Economy, specialising in Production Techniques.

After his studies, in 1993 he joined Volkswagen AG in Wolfsburg Germany, working for the Purchases area within the Department of Forward Sourcing and International Project Management.

Between 1996 and 1998 he was assistant in the Secretariat General to the Consortium’s Chairman, at that time Ferdinand Piëch. After this he took up his activity in Purchases again, as general manager, and was responsible for metal products and powertrain.

The SEAT Ibiza Rock’n’Roll contest has three winners

# The prize for the winners is a SEAT Ibiza and their spot broadcast on TV
# Massive participation and high quality of the proposals received
# Innovative initiative that rewards the creative talent of the participants

SEAT’s national contest to mark the launch of the Ibiza Rock’n’Roll has finally ended. The three winners were chosen after much debate from the more than 100 videos sent to the www.ibizarocktv.es webpage.

SEAT’s innovative initiative has been unique in both Spain and all of Europe. Ordinary citizens were invited to produce a spot centred on the Ibiza Rock’n’Roll, dancing to the popular song “Greased Lightning”. The winning entries are currently being shown on television.

It was a difficult choice for the jury, made up of director and screenwriter Bigas Luna, José Corbacho, Olivia Molina and Javier “Poty” Castillo, owing to the enormous talent displayed by the participants.

Bigas Luna was the spokesman for the jury, and commented on the highlights of each choice:

Nº 1 – ‘Musical Spot SEAT Ibiza Greased Lightning’, produced by Israel López:
“For its brilliant visual idea, that manages to draw the consumer’s attention to the product, and its strict adherence to the competition guidelines. Also for its outstanding choreography and production.”

Nº2 – ‘Cars, grease, emotion and Rock’n’Roll’, produced by Eric de Gispert: “For its freshness and irony – the underlying tone meant to captivate the consumer”

Nº3 – ‘Draw your Ibiza’, produced by Miquel Ardevol Verdiell: “For the simplicity and seemingly effortlessness of its flawless production, and its extreme originality that directly connects with mainstream trends”.

A SEAT Ibiza goes to each winning spot. Besides, the winner and several finalists get to see their work broadcast on television, as part of the new SEAT Ibiza advertising campaign. All submitted entries can also be viewed on the www.ibizarocktv.es website and SEAT’s official webpage, www.seat.es.

Jury president Bigas Luna underlined “the high level of participation and quality of most of the entries, as well as the significance of participating via the internet, which the consumers can relate to”. Furthermore, he urged the winners and all participants to continue creating and telling stories “using their talent and the audiovisual supports made possible by the enormous range of new technologies.”

Pedro Catena, Director of SEAT Spain, and one of the driving forces behind this innovative competition, said “we are proud of this ground-breaking effort, which has changed the communication rules between the brand and its consumers. We would like to congratulate all the participants for their work and their creativity”. Pedro Catena was also a jury member, along with Flocelo Puig, Client Services Manager of SEAT’s advertising agency Atletico Internacional.

The winners will be presented with their prizes during the Madrid Motor Show, which is being held from 24 May to 1 June 2008.

The new SEAT Ibiza

# New technical basis
# New design
# Added safety and comfort
# Lower fuel consumption and emissions

SEAT is unveiling the new Ibiza this Wednesday at its development and production facility in Martorell near Barcelona, Spain. Sportiness and design, as well as SEAT’s customary high-quality precision, are the essential traits of the newcomer to the SEAT family.

Chairman of the Board of Management, Erich Schmitt, describes the company’s latest addition as follows: “The new SEAT Ibiza is the car for the young and the young-at-heart – people who appreciate design, sportiness and quality, yet are also environmentally aware.”

The SEAT Ibiza featured today especially benefits from a new technical basis, with a longer wheelbase and greater track width, which result in enhanced dynamic qualities. At the same time, the Ibiza expands its comfort and safety specification with parking sensors and cornering light function, as well as newly developed airbag systems.

The new SEAT Ibiza combines comfort and safety with a reduced vehicle weight. The lower weight, the efficient engines and the reconfigured transmission ratios all add up to reduced fuel consumption and emissions. All of the petrol-powered models emit less than 160g CO2/km, while the entire diesel range keeps CO2 emissions below 120g/km.

As Schmitt remarks: “The SEAT Ibiza is intended to heighten emotions and lower emissions.”

The looks of the SEAT Ibiza are moulded by the new “Arrow Design” concept. Its newly designed front-end and the distinctly contoured lines running lengthwise reinforce the vehicle’s dynamic, modern statement, while tremendous attention to detail makes the sporty Spanish model more than street-ready.

Customers can catch their first glimpse of the new Ibiza after April 2, 2008, when specially equipped trucks will be displaying the cars in prime locations across Europe. The roadshow schedule and further details can be found by visiting: www.newseatibiza.com

The new SEAT Ibiza will be making its debut motor show appearance in Madrid on May 22, 2008, after which it will receive its European market launch.

OWNERS AND SPECIALISED PRESS DISTINGUISH

The SEAT range in Spain and Europe

The SEAT range has recently received several prestigious awards, confirming the popularity of its models on the market. At the same time, they are a recognition of the quality, character and sportiness that SEAT always applies to all of its products.

The SEAT Altea XL was chosen “Monospace Sprint Motor 2008” at the 6th edition of the Awards by readers of the specialised Galician motoring magazine Sprint Motor, as well as “Family Car of the Year” by Belgium’s VAB (Flemish Automobile Association) for its 105 hp 1.9 TDI version.

This has been a string of successes for SEAT’s monospace car, whose tempting offer of three Diesel and three petrol engine possibilities, combined with interior roominess and load capacity that do not hinder manoeuvrability in city driving, are in such high demand.

Furthermore, the SEAT León was chosen Best Car of the Year 2007 in Poland after placing first in the National Auto Test (NAT) survey published in the Auto Swiat weekly (the Polish edition of Auto Bild). According to Polish drivers, the SEAT León has “the best engine, guarantees a perfect refinement of its components, and is a lot of fun to drive. In addition, it also performs well in terms of the cost of ownership, spacious interior and handling”.

The SEAT León was also chosen “University Car of the Year” in Spain in 2007 by Spanish university students.

The Altea and Alhambra complete the list of awards

The Altea range confirmed its superiority in the compact monospace segment by recently winning first prize in the van category in Europe’s most acclaimed and prestigious DEKRA study on vehicle defects.

The Altea was also chosen by Autoanálisis readers (comprising Muy Interesante, Autovia and Coche Actual) as the best compact monospace car, and the SEAT Alhambra as best monospace car, an exceptional result that demonstrates the leadership of SEAT vehicles as a result of their attractive, increasingly broad range.
