We presented rumors some time ago about Ford looking to sell Jaguar and Land Rover and now we have a confirmation. At the Frankfurt Motor Show which takes place as we speak, Lewis Booth, Ford’s head of European operation made an official announcement, in which he says Ford it not only putting Jaguar and Land Rover for sale, but also that the American giant wants to sell it 100%, not like Aston Martin’s case, where Ford kept a small share of stocks. Ford wants final bids by the end of September and the transaction finished by the end of this year.
I can’t say I’m not a little surprised, because, I personally like the British brands and I think they were starting to do pretty good. Jaguar presented the XF, which is a fabulous car, Land Rover is doing well in the premium SUV market. On the other hand, Ford has some serious financial problems at home, in the US, plus it probably considers investing more in other operations. For example, the Romanian plant bought these days for 57 million Euro ($80 million) where Ford wants to invest about $700 million.
