After last month Peugeot has announced the 29 finalists of their design competition, today only 10 entries made it to the next round. Unfortunately, our favorite design, the Rayo, got kicked out, which leaves us with another favorite, the GALapagos, pictured above. As a reminder, the contestants’ task was to “create a Concept Car which is designed to evolve within the cities of the future, whilst retaining the key values of the 21st century. The projects should bear Peugeot’s stylistic codes and must contain the following four aspects included in this design competition: environmental awareness, social harmony, interactive mobility and economic efficiency.” The winner of this competition will be announced in October and, besides the €10,000 prize, will get his design created on a 1:1 scale as a design study and shown to the public at the 2009 Shanghai Motor Show.

Today Peugeot announced the Prologue, that will probably make its debut at next month’s Paris Motor Show. We say that because the French carmaker was pretty tight with details in the press release. All they say is that the concept is built on a hybrid powertrain, that delivers 200 hp (147 kW) and 109 g/km CO2 emissions in the combined cycle and zero in electric only mode.

Derived from the fusion of different worlds, the “ PROLOGUE… ” concept car lifts a corner of the veil on a new type of vehicle. Anticipating future trends, the “ PROLOGUE… ” proposes an innovative combination of ideas at a number of different levels: its architecture, its style, its interior ambience, its modularity, its original high-tech equipment and also its new generation hybrid technology. In fact, thanks to this technology, this 147kW (200 bhp) car offers unexpected levels of performance combined with signi?cantly reduced CO2 emissions: 109 g/km in the combined cycle, or zero in electric only mode!

Peugeot announced that all their economical models will be called ‘Blue Lion’ and to help buyers identify these models easier, they’ve also came up with a new logo for these cars. Instead of the regular silver lion badge, the eco models will be given a new ‘Blue Lion’ logo. Actually, this is really cool, it sets Peugeot apart from the rest of the economical cars. To be a part of the ‘Blue Lion’ range, the cars will need to return between 56mpg (46 US mpg or 5 liters/100 km) and 64mpg (53 US mpg or 4.4 liters/100 km) and emit 109-130g/km of CO2. This will allow the models to qualify for UK annual road tax between £35 and £120 and company car tax breaks. Models that will be part of the ‘Blue Lion’ range are the 107, 207 (all versions) and 308 (all version, including the SW).

The design you see pictured here is called the Peugeot Rayo and was designed by Ivan Kraljevi?, from Croatia. We really like this one. Another interesting one is the RD concept, created by Carlos Arturo Torres Tova from Colombia, you can see in the vide below. You really should check out the Peugeot contest’s website (click here) and vote on the designs, some of those are really cool. Oh yeah, and you can also win an Xbox 360 if you vote.

Peugeot has released a group of images of the new concept it will be unveiling at the Paris Motor Show in October. The full name will be revealed at the French Show and so far we know that the car has four doors, four seats and highly innovative hybrid architecture. The RC is fitted with an unspecified hybrid powertrain producing a maximum of 313 hp and emitting only 109 g/km of CO2 in gasoline mode and, of course, zero in electric. The vehicle is eco-efficient which has all the characteristics that ensure great driving enjoyment.

With the new generation Peugeot 308 being on the market for some time now, it was time for Peugeot to upgrade the CC version also. And now we have the official announcement of the new Peugeot 308 CC.

Considering that Peugeot were the ones that pioneered the modern concept of the affordable coupe cabriolet, they didn’t let us down because the 308 CC actually looks pretty good. The car has a low sporty profile, pretty similar to the superb Peugeot RC-Z Concept and features like the LED rear lights make the car wonderful to look at.

On the interior, we have deeply sculpted and supportive front seats, with integral head restraints and inbuilt “Airwave” air vent system which diffuses warm air around the occupant’s neck. Not to mention that the interior is entirely trimmed in leather.

Under the bonnet, besides the engines already available, Peugeot will offer a new 140 hp 2.0 litre HDi FAP Euro 5 diesel engine and there are also some hints that the Peugeot 308 CC will also be availble with a hybrid propulsion.

To try and make it as good as possible for day-to-day use, Peugeot has fitted the CC with a number of dedicated storage spaces, while the trunk has a capacity of 465 litres or 266 litres with the roof folded. Of course, the CC will have a lot of “goodies”, such as an MP3 CD audio system, USB Box ( with iPod / MP3 connectivity), hands-free phone kit, user-friendly satellite navigation system offering a MP3 CD audio system, Bluetooth functionality and satellite navigation with a retractable 7? 16/9 colour display.

The Peugeot 308 CC will be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show and we can’t wait to get there and have a look at this beautiful car.

At the upcoming Geneva Motor Show, Peugeot will present its latest additions to the 308 range, the sporty Peugeot 308 GT and the all new Peugeot 308 SW.

The 308 GT will be Peugeot’s new top of the range model and it will be powered by the 175 hp 1.6 litre turbocharged THP petrol engine mated to a new 6-speed manual gearbox. This powertrain was used by the 207 GTi and it also powers the Mini Cooper S. The 308 GT goes from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 8.3 seconds and reaches a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h). Besides the new engine, the car also fetures a lower front bumper, a rear spoiler and a reduced overall ride height, while on the interior the customers will have aluminium gear knob and foot pedals, plus a new steering wheel design.

The other Peugeot premiere, the 308 SW is based on the 308 SW Prologue Concept, presented last year at the Frankfurt show and it will have an increased wheelbase and overhang rear (by 100 mm and 124 mm), which allowed Peugeot to add a third passenger seats row. The 308 SW will be available with a wide range of engines, including the naturally aspirated 95 hp 1.4 liter and 120 HP 1.6 liter, plus the 1.6 liter turbocharged unit, available with 140 hp, 150 hp and 175 hp. The diesel engine offer include the 90 hp 1.4-liter, the 110 hp 1.6-liter and 136 hp 1.6-liter.

The 308 GT will be available starting this spring, while the 308 SW’s sales will start this summer.

I don’t know about you, but I never thought the new Peugeot 407 Coupe was such a success for the French carmaker. I don’t know maybe because the Sedan is already a sporty car, the new 407 Coupe is not as beautiful as the previous one. Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a cool car, but not as cool as it should’ve been. And probably sales aren’t going very well and Peugeot thought to spice it up a little, by announcing this new edition, the Peugeot 407 Coupe Bellagio (the name is not connected in any way with the famous Vegas hotel).

The new 407 Coupe Bellagio is powered by a 136 hp 2.0 liter HDi diesel engine, which has CO2 emissions of just 156 g/km. The Bellagio has some really impressive standard equippment, featuring RT4 Multi Media System with Color Satellite Navigation, TMC (Traffic management information) audible GSM phone, MP3 30GB hard drive, 18” Galaxy alloy wheels and twin chromed exhaust pipes. The car is available in two new exclusive colors, Flamenco Red and metallic Nera Black.

French website MotorLegend reports that Peugeot decided that the Peugeot 308 RC-Z will actually go into production. This decision was taken by Peugeot’s new boss, Frederic Saint-Philippe Collin, which replaced Christian Streiff. One of his first decisions was to bring the 308 RC-Z into mass production.

Nothing official so far, but it seems that the 308 RC-Z will be produced at Peugeot’s plant in Magna in Graz plant, Austria, and it will be based on the PF2 platform from the Peugeot 308 and the Citroen C4. Rumors also say that Peugeot will first offer the 308 RC-Z with a 175 hp 1.6 liter petrol engine. We don’t expect the car to be introduced sooner than 2009 but one thing’s for sure: a cheaper Audi TT available will definitely create some waves in the market.

Today, Peugeot announced the availability of a new Peugeot 207 SW version in the UK, the Outdoor. The Peugeot 207 SW Outdoor features large grey wheel arch extensions, new 16 inch alloy wheels and increased ground clearance (16 mm at the front and 21 mm at the rear) which give the car an ‘off-road’ look. The car will be available with a 120 hp 1.6 liter VTi petrol engine and two HDi diesels, a 90 hp 1.6 litre and a 110 hp 1.6 litre with a diesel particle filter system (DPFS). The engines are mated to a five-speed manual gearbox.

Pricing will start at £13,650 for the petrol engine and £14,020 for the 90 hp diesel, while the most expensive 207 SW Outdoor will be the 110 hp diesel, which will have a starting price of £14,740. Latest Euro NCAP tests had some pretty interesting results. First of all, it’s the first time Kia achieves a 5-star rating, the Cee’d having an overall score of 34 points. Second of all, Peugeot’ proves once again that it makes some of the safest cars on the streets, with the new 308 joining Peugeot’s 1007, 207 and 407 5-stars rating. In the child protection tests both models were awarded with 4 out 5 stars while in pedestrian protection, the Cee’d got a mediocre 2-star rating (out of 4) and the Peugeot a 3 star rating.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show that will start on September 13th, Peugeot will present a full scale version of the Peugeot Flux concept car. Designed by Romanian design student, Mihai Panaitescu, the concept won the Peugeot Design Competition that took place this March, at the Geneva Motor Show.

Beside the concept being made in full scale, Mihai also won a EUR 6000 price and the Flux having a virtual role in the upcoming PGR 4 game for Xbox 360, to be realeased on October 2nd. With only two weeks until the show, Peugeot has released images of the finished Peugeot Flux concept today.

It’s been a long time since Peugeot presented a concept and I got to admit, I mssed the guys at the design department at Peugeot are pretty good. The Peugeot 308 RC Z is a 2+2 coupe that will most probably be presented at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show. The concept is based on the all new Peugeot 308 hatchback that will be introduced at the same Frankfurt Motor Show.

Peugeot has made a German press release (why they didn’t also make an English one, beats us) in which they also give some tech specs. The Peugeot 308 RC Zconcept will share the new 308’s chassis and will weight only 1.200 kg (2.650 lbs), thanks to the use of aluminum and carbonfibre for its bodyparts. The coupe will be powered by a 218 HP twin-turbocharged 1.6-litre petrol engine co-developed by PSA and BMW, that will the the RC Z concept from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) in 7 seconds and to a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph). And considering that Peugeot is trying to make the RC Z a cheaper alternative to the Audi TT, this is not bad.

However, the main advantage of the Peugeot 308 RC Z Concept remains its design. Even though I think that back looks a little like the Nissan 350Z, the concept has that aggressive look Peugeot used us with, which makes it a real cool concept and we can’t wait for the Frankfurt Motor Show to see it live and we hope to see it as soon as possible on the streets.

A few days ago we presented some unmasked spy-shots of the upcoming Peugeot 308. We now have some official pictures from Peugeot of this car, which will be equipped with the same 1.6L unit from the new 207, developing 120hp. This will be followed by a 150hp 1.6L turbo unit that was co-developed with BMW, with the range topped out by a 170hp 2.2L turbodiesel.

No official details have been released so far, but rumors say that the new model has grown by about 4cm to 4.25m in length, while height was reduced slightly from the 307.

Sales should start by the end of the year, following the car’s world debut at September’s Frankfurt Auto Show. A new coupe-convertible and wagon version should arrive a year after the initial release and there’s even talk of a crossover variant in the works. Click here for some more photos. Here are the first unmasked photos of the upcoming Peugeot 308, presented by worldscoop. Our first impression..well..Peugeot could’ve done better. There is nothing spectacular about the new car, it look just like the facelifted 307, except for the back, where there is some clear difference. So, we don’t think this is going to be some big hit from Peugeot.

As for tech specs, there is nothing official yet, but we guess the car will be powered by 1.6 & 1.6 Turbo engines delivering 120 to 170 HP, developed by the PSA group.
