We already knew that the Mitsubishi stand at next month’s Paris Motor Show will feature the Lancer Sportback and the Racing Lancer, but today the Japanese carmaker released a teaser photo of what will probably be the main attraction at their stand. There’s no official info on what type of car this is, so all we know is what we can tell from this teaser photo.

Some rumors say that this is probably the baby SUV confirmed by Mitsubishi, which is based on the Concept-cx, presented last year in Frankfurt, while we also would consider a small car from Mitubishi. Guess we’ll have to wait for the French to see, so stay tuned, because we’ll be there and report when we have more info.

The Mitsubishi Evo X you see in these pics is one of the first ones ordered in Arizona, back in February, and it was modified by the tuning company Vivid Racing, who claims this is the first fully built Evo X in the United States. One thing’s for sure, it looks really good.

The tuning program includes a full Test & Service body kit by Valdi Sport of Japan with a carbon fiber APR GTC rear wing and black IForged 3pc wheels. Mechanical upgrades include JIC Magic FL-TAR coilover suspension with Agency Power rear adjustable control arms, while under the hood Vivid fitted the engine with an Agency Power twin scroll GT35R turbo kit, Agency Power carbon fiber engine cover cold air intake kit, upgraded injectors and fuel pump, all that taking the engine’s power output up to 650 hp.

Next week, at the Moscow motor show, the Japanese company will unveil the new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport. The SUV is larger than its predecessor and so far we know that under the hood there’ll be a 3.2 liter turbodiesel engine that develops 162 (120 kW) and 343 Nm of torque. However, it’s possible that a 2.5 liter turbodiesel and a 3.5 liter V6 could also join the range. The car will come with Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD system and buyers will be able to choose between a 4-speed Sport Mode automatic transmission or a 5-speed manual gearbox.

After the Russian debut, the Pajero Sport will be available in Russia, South-East Asia, the Middle East and South America. In Australia and Latin America the vehicle will be marketed as the Mitsubishi Challenger, while in South America it will carry a Montero Sport badge. The Colt, Mitsubishi’s answer to the small european cars like the Mini or Fiat Grande Punto, was set to receive a facelift for quite some time now. Recently, a newspaper article scan, shows us this facelifted version captured at a promotional shoot in Berlin, Germany.

The changes are quite surprinsing in the front end, Mitsubishi’s engineers borrowing the shark like nose of the new Lancer and adapting it to the Colt chasis. Although the rest of the changes are quite insignificative, the front end is sure to conquer a lot of people, and just might be the ace in the constructor’s sleeve in the fierce battle on the European market which has shown a lot of demand for small hatchbacks due to their practicality in the big cities. This new version will make its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in October with sales due to commence a small time after it. Check out one more scan after the jump. Yesterday, Mitsubishi Motors North America announced that the pricing for the new Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart will start at $26,490. The Lancer Ralliart is powered by a modified version of the Lancer Evolution 4B11 turbocharged intercooled 2.0-liter DOHC MIVEC engine, which now develops 237 hp and is mated to a Twin Clutch-Sportronic Shift Transmission (TC-SST).

The full-time 4WD driveline features Mitsubishi’s Active Center Differential (ACD) unit, Standard Active Stability Control (ASC) with Traction Control (TCL), a front helical and rear mechanical limited slip differentials, Ralliart-tuned suspension and 18-inch alloy wheels. There’s also available an optional RECARO Sport Package, for $2,750, which features Xenon HID headlamps, 650 watt Rockford Fosgate, Sirius Satellite Radio with 6-months subscription and RECARO front sport seats

The new 2009 model year Lancer Ralliart also comes with a fully transferable 3-year/36,000 mile “bumper-to-bumper” new vehicle limited warranty. The Mitsubishi “3/36,” limited warranty is in addition to a 5-year/60,000 mile power train limited warranty and a 7-year/100,000 mile anti-corrosion perforation limited warranty. In addition, all Mitsubishi models come with 5-year unlimited miles Roadside Assistance benefits.

This weekend, at Castle Combe Racing Circuit in Wiltshire, England, MLR (Mitsubishi Lancer Register) has set a new world record for the largest parade of Mitsubishi Evos. Though less than expected, 273 Evos , grouped by color, drove for 2 miles at constant speed and managed to brake the record and also raise £7,459.27 for the Richard Burns Foundation, with a big support from Mitsubishi Motors UK.

The record was confirmed by Buiness World Records and Darin Frow, the MLR Chairman said that “it has taken a small team of MLR members a huge amount of time and effort over the last year to pull this World Record attempt together, but to see it finally come to life on Saturday was incredible [..] Everyone involved had a great day and to see so many Evos on track all at once whilst history was in the making was truly spectacular. We were delighted with the support we received from Mitsubishi UK and for their generous contribution to our chosen charity.”

The new sports sedan from Mitsubishi will have an interesting impact when it will be launched this fall. For less than $27,000 you can get a hot ride after it hits the showrooms in September. A fully Ralliant will come with Recaro seats, Sirius Satellite Radio, upgraded headlamps and a GPS system for near $30,000. Some officials already confirmed the pricing. Before the final price will be public, Mitsubishi weighs the impact of fluctuations of the dollar and yen.

The Ralliart aka WRX competitor develops from the Lancer lineup and it fits abobe the base model but is a step below the 291hp Evolution. Also the Ralliant shares considerable engine and body parts with the Evo. The car will get 237 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque out of its turbocharged 2.0-liter four, and retains some driving characteristics of the Evo-one. The Ralliart shares a twin-clutch SST transmission with the Evo. The Mitsubishi officials point the Ralliart as a potential green option for drivers looking for a good performance.

Mitsubishi expects five to ten percent of all US Lancer sales for the Ralliart and around 300-350 sells per month. In the meantime Mitsubishi is working on some electric vehicle technology, a project called iMiEV, and we all espect a nice small car. “I think we’re very serious about the technology,” said Bryan Arnett, product strategy manager for Mitsubishi Motors North America.

Also, the Concept-cX that debuted at the Frankfurt auto show last fall is also being considered for this market, possibly as early as 2010.

Remember “Gone in 60 Seconds”? We’re sure you do and that was the first thing that crossed our minds when we first saw this. Because on Saturday night, thieves broke into the Xtreme UK showroom in Stourbridge, West Midlands and took off with nine cars, valued at over £300,000 (that’s about $600,000). The stolen cars were one Lamborghini Gallardo, two Subaru Imprezza WRXs, three Mitsubishi Evolution, a Porsche 911 and a Renault Clio V6.

Apparently, we weren’t the only ones thinking about the movie, because Xtreme UK chief, James Challis, said that “just like in the Gone in 60 Seconds movie, the crooks obviously knew what they were looking for.” However, what’s really interesting is that, if you take a look at the Xtreme UK website, you’ll see that they have live cams from the showroom, but these were pretty useless to the police in finding out suspects.

So, everyone in the UK, if you’re looking for a good deal on a high performance car, this might be your lucky day.

The Mitsubishi Prototype-S previews the next high-performance hatchback from Mitsubishi, which will compete Subaru’s Impreza WRX STi. Overall, the car looks good, but, like we said in a previous post, the front and the rear look like they’re from different cars. The awesome front part features the aggresive “Jet Fighter” grille in a matt black finish with mesh inserts and chrome surround, while the rear part is just dull and it looks like it was drawn in a hurry by the designers.

Under the hood, the Prototype-S features the 240 hp 2.0 liter Turbo engine which develops 343 Nm of torque and is mated to the Twin Clutch SST gearbox. The car also benefits from a full-time 4WD drivetrain featuring Mitsubishi Motors’ Active Center Differentia(ACD).

Just the other day we showed you the first photos of the Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype-S and now here’s a cool video of the next high performance hatchback from Mitsubishi. Enjoy!

We’ce already seen the Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype-S Concept drawings and now we’ve got the first photos of the car, which is not actually a concept, but more of a pre-production version of the upcoming Lancer Ralliart, Mitsubishi hatchback competitor for the Subaru Impreza WRX. Scheduled to make world debut at the Geneva Motor Show, the car is powered by EVO X’s 2.0 liter Turbo engine, delivering 240 hp and 343 Nm of torque mated to a Twin Clutch SST gearbox and a full-time 4 wheel drive featuring Mitsubishi Motors’ Active Center Differential.

But, though the numbers look good, we can’t really say we love the car. I mean, the front part is superb, but what’s with that rear part? Not cool. What do you think?

After last week these drawings showed up on the web, we have a confirmation that this is the Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype-S, which will debut at the Geneva Motor Show, in March. The Prototype-S will be Mitsubishi’s hot hatch, powered by the 240hp 2.0 liter turbo engine from the Lancer Ralliart and it will also feature twin-clutch SST gearbox and full-time 4WD drivetrain with an active center differential. Rumors say that the car will join Mitsubishi’s lineup in the second half of this year.

That’s all the info we have so far, but stay tuned because we’ll be there at the Geneva Motor Show and we’ll let you know once we have more details.

There’s only one word to describe this car…WOW! Today, at Detroit, Mitsubishi introduced the Mitsubishi Concept RA, which has an outstanding design. The concept is built using lightweight materials and it features a new body structure “that utilizes an aluminum space frame made from extruded aluminum sections and die-cast aluminum components, as well as the hood, fenders and other outer panels molded from impact-resistant and easily recyclable plastic resin”.

The Mitsubishi Concept RA is powered by a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder DOHC 16-valve turbo diesel engine which develops 201 hp (150 kW) and 310 lb-ft of torque. The engine features a MIVEC valvetrain with continuously variable valve timing control as well as low and high speed camshaft profiles and it’s also equipped with piezoelectric injector common-rail direct fuel injection that allows a lower compression ratio and a VD (Variable Diffuser)/VG (Variable Geometry) turbocharger.

The engine is mated with a Twin Clutch-SST gearbox and the concept also features Super-All Wheel Control (S-AWC) system that is comprised of Active Center Differential, Active Yaw Control, Sport ABS and Active Stability Control component systems, technologies which are currently used on the recent Lancer Evolution X.

Mitsubishi announced the pricing for the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X. The cheapest Evo will be the GSR model, priced at $34,000, while the top of the line, the MR model will start at$39,000. Both models are powered by the same 291 hp 2.0 liter turbocharged engine, the main difference being that the MR model features 6-speed dual clutch transmission (TC-SST). Even though prices are a little higher than the current generation (especially for the GSR version), I still think the Evo X will be quite a success.

Scheduled to be presented at the upcoming Tokyo Motor Show, here are the first official photos of the new Mitsubishi Evo X. Based on the Prototype-X, presented by Mitsubishi in this year’s Detroit Show, it seems that the sport sedan will be powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine that packs 295 hp and it also features a new Mitsubishi four-wheel drive system.

Another new feature of the new Mitsubishi Evo X will be a Twin Clutch SST dual-clutch sequential gearbox. The car will also offer better handling and grip than the current Evo IX, despite being slower. (it goes from 0 to 62 mph (100km/h) in 5.0 seconds).
